About The Shot – Indian Falls Pano

Indian Falls

In the fall of 2021, I accompanied some friends on a short hike to a local waterfall, Indian Falls. It was late in the season so the colourful foliage was all but finished showing off their wonderful hues of red, orange and gold, but there were enough leaves left on the trees and a lush carpet on the ground to make it a worth while effort.

I took plenty of photos during the hike in, and even shot some video as you can see below. The photo above is what I call the “money shot” because it was the sole reason for making the trip. I will admit, I never had any preconceived ideas as to what I would capture – I’ve been to the falls before, I just mean I didn’t know what I was going to get for photos until I got there.

The video below features some of the images I captured during the hike, but what makes this featured photo special is that it’s a three shot panorama, all shot vertically with Slow Shutter Cam on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and stitched together in Affinity Photo on my iMac. The fact that its three images together means the full resolution of the file will allow for a much larger photo if I ever decide to print it, which I most likely will.
